‘We need a substitute for the Old Country’ — A Conversation with the Lengyel Family at the Magyar Tanya* in Philadelphia

‘We have come together to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Magyar Tanya, a club founded by Hungarian Americans, to remember and pay tribute to the founders who created everything we enjoy and appreciate today. To this day, we need a place to come together, to cherish our nationality, our traditions, and our customs. We need a place that is truly ours, that is a substitute for the Old Country, and that welcomes all our fellow citizens who approach us with goodwill.
