The Chamber’s Design Week also awaits visitors in Debrecen

The National Design Week, initiated by the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, kicks off on Thursday, October 8. Building on the experience of DesignPécs—which has been operating in Pécs for over a decade—the event series is joined by Debrecen, Eger, and Kecskemét alongside the county seat of Baranya.

Running through October 18, the series aims to give creative industry businesses broader visibility, help them build new business and professional connections, and strengthen their market presence.

The initiative is a nationwide expansion of the DesignPécs model, developed and continuously improved over recent years by the Pécs-Baranya Chamber of Commerce and Industry. A key feature of the event series is that it actively involves local creative industry players, leveraging their knowledge and expertise to bring programs together onto a shared platform. In 2026, Pécs hosts the 12th edition of DesignPécs, which ties into the Vasarely Year this time and offers over 50 events.

Building on the Pécs experience, three additional regional chambers are joining the program this year. Debrecen Design Week welcomes visitors with craft workshops, a film club, and a professional lecture; the inaugural Design Eger features 39 events with the participation of over 17 local creative businesses and institutions; and DesignKecskemét 2026 includes inspirational workshops, a shop window contest, and an exhibition.

The shared message across these diverse programs is that design is not merely an aesthetic matter: it is innovation, problem-solving, value creation, and a mindset that shapes our environment from both an economic and community perspective.

Detailed schedules and participation details for the National Design Week are available on the program pages for each city:
