Schools Threatened by Godless Ideologies, Foreign Minister Warns

Hungarian schools are “under pressure from various civil groups that are trying to capture them in the name of godless ideologies,” Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó warned.

Such groups “question the rights and role of parents … while the future lies in building communities, in which the Catholic Church has a decisive role,” the Minister said on Tuesday at the inauguration of a renovated school in Hegykő, in northwestern Hungary, according to MTI.

Communities are much needed in the face of current challenges,

Szijjártó stressed. “The flashes of war are over our heads, while hostility has become the cornerstone of international politics, and the world is on the way to being divided into blocs once again,” he said. But, he added, “a strong Hungary, built on strong communities, will overcome even these challenges.”

Hegykő’s old school was renovated with 220 million forints (592,000 euros) in state and European Union funds.
