Éva Voisin fled Hungary with her family as a child in 1956 and settled in Los Angeles in 1959. She quickly became involved in the Hungarian community there. She met her French husband while studying in Paris and they moved to San Francisco in 1968, where she joined a small but very active Hungarian community. Since the fall of communism in Hungary, which she followed closely, she has been an enthusiastic and active supporter of Hungarian–American diplomatic, economic and cultural relations.
