Forvis Mazars Appoints Three New Partners in Hungary

The appointments strengthen its banking and financial audit, IT audit and innovation, and tax advisory practices.

The firm said the promotions recognize the professionals’ performance and contributions to developing their respective business areas.

Gabriella Gábor: Banking and Financial Audit

Gábor, who heads the audit practice serving banks and financial businesses, becomes a partner in recognition of her decades of experience and contribution to developing the banking business. She took responsibility for the banking portfolio in 2014 and has played a central role in its expansion.

She joined the firm’s Hungarian office in 2005 after eight years as an auditor at Salustro Reydel Kft. Alongside leading the banking audit team, she oversees the appropriate application of the group’s audit methodology and participates in international projects developing its methodology and audit software. Auditing French-owned companies and corporate groups is another important part of her work.

Gábor is a registered auditor with an ACCA qualification and specialist audit certifications across several fields. She is a member of the Chamber of Hungarian Auditors’ Expert Committee, vice chair of its Financial Institutions Section and an expert for the Auditors’ Public Oversight Authority.

She also contributes to professional education as a certified instructor and examiner, university lecturer and speaker at Hungarian and regional webinars. As a partner, she aims to further strengthen the practice serving the financial sector.

Zoltán Betyák: IT Audit and Innovation

Betyák will focus on further developing the Hungarian IT Audit and Innovation practice while supporting the firm’s digital transformation in Hungary, across the region and internationally.

His priorities include connecting technological development more closely with business value, particularly through artificial intelligence, automation and data-driven operations.

Betyák began his career as a research physicist before gaining experience in a Big Four advisory environment. He joined the Hungarian team in September 2013, progressing from financial audit through IT audit to innovation and digital transformation.

As a regional transformation leader, he helped establish and develop the Central and Eastern European Innovation and Transformation Community and contributed to initiatives shaping the group’s technology strategy.

His responsibilities as a partner include developing services in information security, cybersecurity, data protection and digital compliance. He is also working to introduce a new technology advisory portfolio and establish a Hungarian center of expertise supporting the group regionally and internationally.

Gergely Simon: Tax Advisory

Simon will support the sustainable growth of the tax advisory practice, the expansion of its services in Hungary and internationally, and the development and growth of the Budapest tax team.

His priorities include maintaining high professional standards and proactive client service in close cooperation with the firm’s international network.

Qualified in law and economics, Simon began his career at Deloitte in 2012, working in international taxation and tax advisory related to corporate acquisitions. He subsequently spent four years in Vienna as global tax manager at Alpega, an Austria-based international software development group.

He joined Forvis Mazars’ Budapest office as a senior manager in January 2023.

Simon has advised on numerous Hungarian and international acquisitions, particularly in the energy and logistics sectors, and helped dozens of clients address global minimum tax requirements. His expertise also covers the taxation of real estate investments, family businesses and succession planning.

In his new role, he will emphasize swift and effective responses to legislative changes and address the opportunities and challenges presented by AI.
