Andrea Bocelli to perform in Budapest again next May

Andrea Bocelli will return to Hungary next year. The world-famous Italian tenor is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the release of his album Romanza with a major tour. As part of the tour, he will perform a concert on May 25, 2027, at the Papp László Budapest Sportaréna.

The concert program will feature popular opera excerpts and songs from Bocelli’s best-known pop albums. The world’s most popular tenor today will be accompanied by a Hungarian symphony orchestra and choir, concert organizer Broadway Event announced to the Hungarian News Agency (MTI) on Monday.

Andrea Bocelli’s career began when he won the Sanremo Music Festival in 1994. Over the course of his more than 30-year career, he has performed the greatest operatic roles and appeared in all the world’s major concert halls and opera houses, while also conquering the pop music charts.

He has broken numerous records and sold more than 90 million albums. His album Romanza alone has sold 20 million copies, and his music has amassed more than 25 billion streams and views across digital platforms. He has received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, has been nominated for Grammy and Latin Grammy Awards seven times, and has performed before four U.S. presidents, three popes, and the British royal family.

He has collaborated with outstanding artists such as Ed Sheeran, Dua Lipa, Céline Dion, Tony Bennett, Ariana Grande, Jennifer Lopez, Nicole Scherzinger, Jennifer Garner, and Ellie Goulding. He performed a duet with his son Matteo on the song “Fall on Me,” featured on his album Sì, and sang Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” onstage with his young daughter Virginia.

In 2021, he performed at the opening ceremony of Expo 2020 Dubai and at the opening match of the UEFA European Football Championship in Rome. He also performed in Central Park accompanied by the New York Philharmonic. He sang at the opening ceremony of this year’s FIFA World Cup in Mexico City. The documentary about his life, Because I Believe, premiered in cinemas in autumn 2025, offering an insight into the singer’s life and career, both on and off the stage.

The 30th-anniversary edition of Romanza, originally released internationally in 1997, was released this September. One of the album’s highlights is a remastered sound alongside a previously unheard, unreleased, extended version of the song “Con te partirò” (“Time to Say Goodbye”).

In 2011, Bocelli founded the Andrea Bocelli Foundation (ABF) to support disadvantaged people and communities in Italy and around the world. In connection with the Budapest concert, he will once again contribute to the foundation’s work in partnership with the PLUS1 program. One euro from the price of every ticket sold will go toward supporting the ABF’s education, healthcare, and community development projects. These initiatives help individuals and communities struggling with poverty, illiteracy, difficult life circumstances, and social exclusion.
